The Knitty Gritty #1

I thought to write a little extra newsletter series and share some of the things that I've come across during my travels and interactions. Sometimes there might be a rambling about the business and the unique challenges faced running a small business working with and championing British manufacturers, which hopefully will give some insight to a one-person run business. Despite going for a few years there's still lots of scope to improve and I'm always learning. Scroll down to find links to various tips and recommendations.

I just came back from a holiday in New York and was blown away by the beauty of Autumn over there. The colours were so inspiring. Also, the energy in New York is something else. Plus, everyone seems more open and friendly (compared to London). I had an eye-opening experience at Dia: Beacon as I had no expectations but was blown away by what I saw. Please, if you get a chance to get out there, make the trip. You won't regret it!

It's great to see independent stores and brands keep going, but I've heard of a handful of retailers who had to close their doors for the last time. There's something special supporting independent retailers and brands they carry, keeping their livelihoods going. Let's stick together and support independent retailers.

If you find yourself visiting New York and have some spare time, I thoroughly recommend taking the train up along the Hudson to Beacon where you'll find the pretty impressive art gallery Dia: Beacon.

Kinfolk take in the dramatic landscapes of The District from the top of a double-decker bus.

I've travelled around the Lake District myself by bus and can testify it's a great way to visit the towns and villages around the The Lakes.
